Next2U at IEEE TechDefense 2023

Aggiornamento: 10 apr

We are delighted to announce our participation in the next TechDefense, an international workshop hosted by IEEE on technologies for defense and security, set in Rome, at the “Casa dell'Aviatore” in November 20-22, 2023.

The workshop will cover a wide range of topics concerning research in the field of defense, including imaging and sensors technology, signal processing, machine learning and more.

In this context, we’ll introduce the cutting-edge cognitive workload assessment methodology, presented in the proceedings paper:

Assessment of Cognitive Workload During Flight Training by Means of Hybrid NIR/LWIR Imaging – D. Tomasino, M. Chinthakindi, A. Tiberio, C. Patibandla, M. Tritto, S. Nocco.

Flying advanced aircraft in tough conditions is a highly demanding cognitive task, despite the technological improvement of the flight experience. That's where monitoring pilots' mental workload (MWL) becomes crucial: it's the key to boost safety and performance.

On the other hand, it’s mandatory to preserve the pilot’s ability to move freely and thus the usage of contact-less and non-intrusive tools.

Our research presents a novel way to perform the assessment of MWL, relying on pure multispectral imaging ML model, accomplished by Computational Psycho-Physiology Module (CPM) specifically developed.

Stay tuned for more updates!
